TB-500 — Thymosin Beta-4 Active Fragment for Actin Regulation and Tissue Repair Research
TB-500 (Thymosin Beta-4 Fragment) contains the active region of Tβ4, the primary G-actin sequestering molecule. Promotes cell migration, angiogenesis, and tissue repair. Expressed in virtually all cell types. Research by Goldstein et al. and Sosne et al.
Mechanism of Action
TB-500 promotes migration via the LKKTET motif, modulating actin polymerization. Upregulates Akt/PI3K survival signaling, promotes VEGF-dependent and -independent angiogenesis. Nature (2004) demonstrated functional cardiac regeneration via epicardial cell activation.
Key Research Areas
- Cell Migration and Wound Healing: Modulates actin dynamics and lamellipodium formation. Accelerated wound closure, enhanced granulation, improved remodeling.
- Angiogenesis Research: Promotes new vessel formation through VEGF pathways and direct endothelial cell migration in matrigel assays.
- Cardiac Regeneration: Landmark: Tβ4 activates epicardial progenitors post-MI, promoting neovascularization and functional recovery.
- Anti-Inflammatory Mechanisms: Reduces NF-κB inflammatory gene expression with decreased neutrophil infiltration and pro-inflammatory cytokines.
