PEG-MGF — Pegylated Mechano Growth Factor for Skeletal Muscle Research
PEG-MGF is a PEGylated form of the IGF-1Ec splice variant, a mechanically sensitive growth factor produced after exercise or tissue damage. PEGylation extends half-life from minutes to hours. Used in satellite cell activation and muscle hypertrophy research.
Mechanism of Action
PEG-MGF activates satellite cells — resident muscle stem cells — promoting proliferation and migration to damage sites. MGF exerts autocrine/paracrine effects within muscle microenvironment. Goldspink (J Physiology, 2003) showed MGF is an immediate early gene response to mechanical overload, preceding liver-type IGF-1Ea expression.
