KPV — Alpha-MSH C-Terminal Tripeptide for Anti-Inflammatory Research
KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is the C-terminal tripeptide of α-MSH, retaining anti-inflammatory properties without melanocortin receptor-mediated melanogenic activity. Characterized by Brzoska et al. (FEBS Letters, 1999).
Mechanism of Action
KPV inhibits NF-κB nuclear translocation by preventing IκBα phosphorylation, suppressing IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α. Enters cells directly for receptor-independent effects. Reduces inflammation in colitis models through direct intestinal epithelial cell signaling (J Immunol). Modulates NLRP3 inflammasome.
